ABOUT ASICS

Kihachiro Onitsuka founded ASICS in 1949 to nurture Japan’s youth through sport and contribute to society. Our founding philosophy, “Anima Sana In Corpore Sano” (a sound mind in a sound body), reflects our desire for people everywhere to live healthy, happy lives in both body and mind.

Awareness of health is growing worldwide and the very definition of sport is evolving. With the development of digital and other technologies, there are new ways to enjoy movement. The Tokyo 2020 Olympic and Paralympic Games* also served as an inspiration for sport in Japan.

In a society where people with diverse values enjoy sport and lead richer lifestyles, ASICS uses intelligent technology to help create an environment where sport feels more accessible to everyone.

This year marks 72 years since ASICS was founded. The social importance of sport is greater than ever. Sport helps us live longer, healthier lives, feel more fulfilled, and cross national and cultural boundaries to bring the world together.

Our mission — past, present and future — is to contribute to a healthy, sustainable society and bring joy to people around the world through sport. We will continue working towards this goal.
